Section Leadership
The Maine Section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE F004) is a volunteer based organization. We are always looking for members that wish to step up and contribute to our mission of supporting female engineers in the state of Maine.

President – Evelyn Beebe, PE
Evelyn Beebe is a graduate from the University of Maine where she served as Vice President of the UMaine SWE Collegiate Section for two years and majored in Chemical Engineering. After completing her Master’s at Carnegie Mellon University in Energy Science, Technology, and Policy, Evelyn moved to New Jersey and became an active member in the New Jersey Professional Section as the Collegiate Relations Committee Chair and then the Secretary. Evelyn has lived in San Diego (2 years) and Dallas-Fort Worth (2 years) during which time she served as a Leadership Coach with a Collegiate-Focus on the Leadership Coaching Committee (LCC). Evelyn is now a wife and mother of three girls and works from home in the greater Bangor area. She is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Partner of Energy Compliance Services at Weaver & Tidwell, LLP, the largest independent accounting firm headquartered in the Southwest.
Vice President – Diane Edinger
Diane began her academic journey in Fine Arts at the University of Minnesota. She later pursued an AAS in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from Hennepin Technical College, followed by a BAS in Applied Engineering from Bemidji State University.
With a diverse career in product development across industries such as dental, consumer products, and software, Diane has consistently worked at the intersection of business, manufacturing processes, and applied engineering.
In 2007, she relocated to Boston to join the CAD software development team at SensAble Technologies in Woburn, Massachusetts. Following its acquisitions by Geomagic and 3D Systems, she continued her work with the Freeform Software development team and took on the role of Software Product Portfolio Manager for the Freeform family of haptic-integrated CAD products.
Since 2021, Diane has the role of principal at Mind2Matter Design & Technologies. Outside of work, she loves tending to her garden, kayaking, and exploring the field of Data Science.


Treasurer – Rebecca Rand Costigan
Rebecca is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine with over 30 years of experience in Mechanical and Architectural Engineering. While at UMaine, she was the Vice President of the Collegiate SWE section for two years.
Rebecca is now Chief Engineer for a national engineering consulting firm headquartered in Freeport, ME. She provides engineering-related inspection services and along with her team, has developed one of the most respected national quality assurance, inspection, and building forensic engineering programs in the country. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in 20 states.
Frequently she adjuncts at the University of Maine, Mechanical Engineering Technology department and Central Maine Community College Architectural and Civil Engineering Department. She is on the Industrial Advisory Committee for the University of Maine School of Engineering Technology to provide feedback to faculty regarding industry trends for curriculum development and also participates in Technical Advisory Groups to advise the State of Maine Building Code Board. She has two grown children and spends summers on her sailboat with her husband and German Shepherd on and off the coast of Maine.
Secretary – Isabelle (Izzy) Grant
Isabelle is a graduate of the University of Maine where she served as the SWE Vice President for the collegiate chapter in her senior year before graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. She began her career as a scientist in diagnostic assay research and development at IDEXX Laboratories in Southern Maine where she then moved into process engineering for their diagnostic instrumentation business. She moved into her current role in 2023 as a New Product Transfer Engineer back in the assay organization where she supports the transfer of new products through new product development into operations. In her time as an NPT Engineer, she also mentors in a company program to those interested in technical or engineering project management roles. Additionally, Isabelle is pursuing a master’s degree in Biotechnology Enterprise from Northeastern University and will graduate in the Summer term of 2025! For the Maine Professional Section, she has chaired the Take Apart a Toaster Event Committee for 2024 and 2025.
Outside of her professional career, Isabelle loves to be outside with her partner and two dogs or traveling whenever she can!
